Working out regularly, or at least fairly regularly, is essential for keeping your body in good condition, and staying youthful and healthy for years and years to come. A good workout will benefit you in terms of health and strength, but it also leaves you feeling great, positive and pumped up. A number of factors can make you have a bad day at the gym – your clothes not fitting right, bad shoes causing your feet to wobble, etc. – and these bad experiences can diminish your resolve, slow your progress or even lead to injuries down the line. This is why women should find the gym items that will make them feel comfortable and allow them to give 100% in every workout.

A Sports Bra That Fits Right

It may sound a bit alarming, but a large number of women wear a bra that is the wrong size for them. With sports bras, it is even more important to get the right fit, because all the bouncing and movement can not only make you feel uncomfortable, but can actually cause the ligament tissue in your breasts to weaken and cause things to go south, so to speak. You’ll have to find the right bra for you, depending on your cup size and the intended activity, but it will make a huge difference in your training.

A Comfortable Pair of Pants

  • The next order of business is to find yourself a pair of gym pants that will allow you to have full freedom of motion, look good and won’t rip during a serious leg session – both girls and guys have this happen to them at the gym all the time and, it can be incredibly embarrassing. The best option is to get a pair of colorful yoga pants that are as much of a fashion statement as they are a great piece of gym apparel. Make sure to get a few pairs, so that you’ll have something to wear to the gym on laundry day.  Carry a well packed backpack to the gym with an extra pair of pants just in case with other gym essentials.

  • The Right Shoes for the Job

  • As with the sports bra, you need to choose your shoes depending on your foot shape and what you will be doing during your workouts. While running shoes are great for running and aerobic activities, exercises like barbell squats require stable footing, which means a flat shoe with a fairly hard sole. There are also specialized shoes for Olympic lifting and hybrid models used for CrossFit where you need both stability and some cushion for high-impact exercise.

  • A Decent Yoga Mat

  • A lot of the exercises are performed lying down or standing on your knees, particularly the warm-up and flexibility work. You don’t want to sit down on a dirty and hard surface, so a simple yoga mat is one of the best things you can have with you. The best thing about them is that you can lay them down whenever and wherever for a quick impromptu exercise session.

    Micro Plates

    • To get those tight and curvaceous legs and booty, and toned back and arms, a girl needs to lift something heavy. You need to build up those muscles unless you want to look like a stick figure when you lose those extra pounds of fat, and to do this, you need a steady progression, i.e. adding a bit of weight to the bar every week. Most gyms cater to men in this regard, so it’s a good idea to buy your own micro plates so that you can slowly add 0.5 kg from week to week. There are some DIY solutions available as well.

Good Earphones and a Workout Playlist

The music choice at most commercial gyms ranges from slightly inappropriate to completely appalling. If you want to get the most out of your workout, you’d want to drown out all the distracting sounds and play something that gets you pumped up, so some decent earphones and a carefully prepared playlist are a must-have.

Nothing you have with you or wear will help you magically become fit overnight, but having these six items will ensure that you get the most out of each training session and make the fastest progress possible, as long as you train consistently and with intensity.
